In north central Wyoming, Bighorn Mountains Southeast and Bighorn Mountains West. In west central Wyoming, Salt River and Wyoming Ranges and Upper Green River Basin Foothills. * WHEN...Until 11 PM MDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Quick water rises on area streams and rivers, especially on small drainages in the mountains and foothills, leading to localized flash flooding, which could endanger people and infrastructure near waterways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Slow-moving showers and thunderstorms will have abundant moisture today, with dew points in the 50s and 60s, and precipitable water values in excess of 1 inch. An inch or more of rain is possible in under an hour, and some locations could quickly see 1 to 3 inches of rain over an hour or two, leading to flash flooding. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flood Advisories or Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Flood Advisory issued July 16 at 4:34PM MDT until July 16 at 7:30PM MDT by NWS Riverton WY * WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...East Central Big Horn County in central Wyoming... * WHEN...Until 730 PM MDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry washes and gulches. Dangerous flows over low-water crossings. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 431 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will likely cause small stream flooding. Rapid river rises could cause flooding in the advisory area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Willett Creek, Dry Bush Creek, Jack Creek, Grouse Creek, Brindle Creek, White Creek, Red Gulch, Reeves Corner Draw, Shell Creek, Trapper Creek, Cedar Creek, Horse Creek, Bush Creek, McKinnon Creek, Bear Gulch, Granite Creek and Beaver Creek. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Shell, Shell Canyon, Shell Falls and Shell Creek Campground. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low spots and normally dry washes which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Washes, gulches, streams, and rivers can become raging currents in a matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
