Heat Advisory issued July 12 at 11:05PM MDT until July 14 at 2:00AM MDT by NWS Glasgow MT * WHAT...For the Lake Wind Advisory, north winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. For the Heat Advisory, maximum temperatures up to 95 expected. * WHERE...Central and Southeast Phillips, Central and Southern Valley, Garfield, and Petroleum Counties. * WHEN...For the Lake Wind Advisory, until 6 AM MDT Monday. For the Heat Advisory, until 2 AM MDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Strong winds and rough waves on area lakes will create hazardous conditions for small craft. Rough waves can overturn small craft. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Boaters on Fort Peck Lake should with small craft should stay near or around protected areas. Monitor yourself and others for signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Signs include dizziness, thirst, heavy sweating, confusion, weakness, and cramps. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
