Widespread rain is becoming increasingly likely late Sunday through Wednesday, which will lead to steady or rising river levels in the coming days. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Minnesota River at Montevideo. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 14.0 feet, Low lying areas and some roads along the river begin flooding, along with some basements of houses along the river. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 700 PM CDT Saturday, the stage was 14.5 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 700 PM CDT Saturday was 14.6 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to remain steady around 14.5 feet through tomorrow. It will then remain steady or rise thereafter...depending on how much rain falls early next week. - Flood stage is 14.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 14.6 feet on 07/26/1962. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
