SOURCE...Broadcast media reported. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... New Orleans, Kenner, Metairie, Marrero, Harvey, Avondale, Timberlane, Chalmette, Jefferson, Gretna, Harahan, Westwego, Bridge City, Elmwood, Terrytown, River Ridge, Arabi, Woodmere and Waggaman. Lake Maurepas... Lake Pontchartrain... * Until 300 PM CDT. * At 122 PM CDT, a cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts was located along a line extending from near Kenner to 10 nm west of Lake Borgne, moving northwest at 15 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts to 40 knots. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Waterspouts can quickly form and capsize boats...damage vessels and oil rigs...and create suddenly higher waves. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. * Locations impacted include... Madisonville, Manchac, Lake Pontchartrain/Lake Maurepas, Orleans Marina, Lake Maurepas, Mandeville, The Mid Point Of The Causeway Bridge, Kenner, Eden Isle, and Lacombe. Strong winds will be dangerous for boaters or anyone near the water. Make sure all on board are wearing life jackets. Seek shelter or move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes.
