Marine Weather Statement issued July 11 at 3:18PM CDT by NWS New Orleans LA A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for the following areas... Chandeleur Sound... Coastal waters from Pascagoula Mississippi to Stake Island out 20 NM... At 318 PM CDT, a buoy reported a cluster of strong thunderstorms, producing winds to around 30 knots and weak waterspouts. This cluster of thunderstorms is generally located 17 nm southeast of Chandeleur Sound, moving northwest at 5 knots. Mariners can expect widespread gusty winds to around 30 knots, higher waves and dangerous lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this activity passes. Brief, weak waterspouts are possible with this activity. Remain on alert in case warnings are issued for waterspout development. Report severe weather to the Coast Guard or nearest law enforcement agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service forecast office.
