Marine Weather Statement issued July 11 at 12:32PM CDT by NWS New Orleans LA A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for the following areas... Barataria Bay... Breton Sound... Coastal Waters from Boothville LA to Southwest Pass of the Mississippi River out 20 nm... At 1232 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated a cluster of strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots and weak waterspouts. This cluster of thunderstorms is generally located along a line extending from near Empire to near Venice, moving north at 10 knots. Brief, weak waterspouts are possible with this activity. Remain on alert in case warnings are issued for waterspout development. This a cluster of strong thunderstorms will likely produce winds to around 30 knots, and could pose a serious hazard for boaters. A special marine warning may eventually be required when this activity reaches the nearshore waters. Boaters should consider heading for shore before these storms arrive. Report severe weather to the Coast Guard or nearest law enforcement agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service forecast office.
