Flood Watch issued May 16 at 3:17AM HST until May 17 at 8:00PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING FOR NIIHAU KAUAI OAHU MOLOKAI LANAI AND MAUI... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Kauai, Niihau, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, and Maui. * WHEN...Through Friday evening. * IMPACTS...Significant flooding may occur due to the overflow of streams and drainages. Roads in several areas may be closed, along with property damage in urban or low lying spots due to runoff. Landslides may also occur in areas with steep terrain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A kona low north to northwest of the state will bring the potential for heavy rain and thunderstorms through at least Friday. The highest chance for excessive rainfall appears to be over Kauai and Oahu through Friday. However all islands in the Flood Watch area should be prepared for the possibility of flash flooding. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

High Surf Advisory issued May 16 at 3:43AM HST until May 17 at 6:00PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR SOUTH FACING SHORES OF ALL HAWAIIAN ISLANDS UNTIL 6 PM HST FRIDAY... .Rough conditions are expected along south facing shores through Friday due to a combination of breezy onshore winds and a fresh, long-period south-southwest swell filling in. This swell will peak later today through Friday. * WHAT...Surf of 7 to 10 feet. * WHERE...South-facing shores of all Hawaiian Islands. * WHEN...Until 6 PM HST Friday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Moderate. Strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous. Heed all advice from ocean safety officials. When in doubt, don't go out.

Flood Advisory issued May 16 at 7:33AM HST until May 16 at 10:30AM HST by NWS Honolulu HI * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall. * WHERE...The island of Oahu in Honolulu County. * WHEN...Until 1030 AM HST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 729 AM HST, radar indicated bands of heavy rain over east Oahu. The highest rain rates were 1 to 2 inches per hour over the Maunawili and Waimanalo areas. Additional rainfall is moving toward Oahu from the south. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Honolulu, Kaneohe, Ahuimanu, Kalihi, Maunawili, Kahaluu, Moanalua, Manoa, Halawa, Aiea, Waiahole, Kailua, Salt Lake, Kaneohe Marine Base, Palolo, Waikane, Waimanalo, Pearl City, and Kaaawa. Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action. A Flood Watch is also in effect for Oahu through Friday evening.
