Προειδοποίηση

14/5 10:33 π.μ. 10:33 – 15/5 12:00 π.μ. 24:00

Special Weather Statement issued May 14 at 2:33AM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks AK Strong south to southwest winds will cause water levels to increase 2-4 feet along the coast. Shorefast ice is still in place along much of the coast and may lift the ice and locally push it ashore, especially on south and southwest facing coastlines. Additionally, water may flood the ice surface and could impact any equipment/huts remaining on the ice. High surf is possible in some locations wher there is little or no shorefast ice. Additionally, strong winds will begin this afternoon and increase this evening with gusts up to 55 mph along the coast. This, coupled with snow may lead to some areas of blowing snow. Given that temperatures will be around or slightly above 32F, it will be a wet snow, so visbility may briefly get to one-half mile but prolonged visibilty to one-half mile is not expected. Any blowing snow will end Wednesday morning as temperatures rise into the mid 30s. Residents near the coast should be vigilant of these potential impacts and stay tuned to the latest forecast updates at www.weather.gov/afg
