severe thunderstorm warning in effect At 6:50 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. This line of severe thunderstorms is located from Burk's Falls to 11 kilometres east of Rosseau to 20 kilometres north of Christian Island, moving east at 60 km/h. Hazard: Up to 100 km/h wind gusts. Up to quarter size hail. Local rainfall amounts up to 50 mm possible. Locations impacted include: Huntsville, MacTier, Rosseau, Port Carling, Arrowhead Provincial Park, Big East River Provincial Park, J. Albert Bauer Provincial Park, Oxtongue River-Ragged Falls Provincial , Moon River, Go Home Lake, Lake Joseph, Little Lake Joseph, Seguin Falls, Minett, Bala, Lake Rosseau, Bear Lake, Hekkla, Windermere and Rossclair. ### Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! tornado warning in effect At 6:20 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado. Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible. A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado is located 7 kilometres southwest of Killbear Park, moving northeast at 55 km/h. Hazard: Tornado. Up to 100 km/h wind gusts. Up to nickel size hail. Locations impacted include: Parry Sound, Killbear Park, Killbear Provincial Park, Nobel, Parry Sound Harbour, Carling, Depot Harbour, Parry Island, Rose Point, North Parry, Badger's Corners, Waubamik, South Parry, Foley and Haines Lake. ### Tornado warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing tornadoes. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. One or more weak tornadoes may be occurring in the area. They sometimes appear as funnel clouds with swirling debris near the ground. Go indoors to a room on the lowest floor, away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement, bathroom, stairwell or interior closet. Leave mobile homes, vehicles, tents, trailers and other temporary or free-standing shelter, and move to a strong building if you can. As a last resort, lie in a low spot and protect your head from flying debris. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
