Movement was east at 35 mph. HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could cause minor tree limb damage and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Marion, Coralville, North Liberty, Mount Vernon, Kalona, Lisbon, Fairfax, Solon, Tiffin, Ely, Walford, Lone Tree, Springville, University Heights, Swisher, Oxford, Hills, and Shueyville. This includes the following highways... Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 230 and 253. Interstate 380 between mile markers 1 and 22. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued May 20 at 12:55AM CDT until May 20 at 1:30AM CDT by NWS Quad Cities IA IL At 1255 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Marion, or near Cedar Rapids, moving northeast at 35 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha, Mount Vernon, Robins, Center Point, Lisbon, Fairfax, Solon, Ely, Central City, Springville, Palo, Swisher, Alburnett, Coggon, Shueyville, Bertram, Prairieburg, and Toddville. This includes Interstate 380 between mile markers 7 and 35. To report severe weather contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will send your report to the National Weather Service office in the Quad Cities. Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
