Beach Hazards Statement issued July 18 at 3:48PM EDT until July 19 at 8:00AM EDT by NWS Cleveland OH * WHAT...High risk of rip currents expected. * WHERE...Erie and Lorain Counties. * WHEN...From this evening through Sunday morning. * IMPACTS...Wind and wave action will cause currents on the lakeshore. Swimmers should not enter the water. Currents can carry swimmers away from shore through a sand bar and along structures extending out into the lake. Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.

Air Quality Alert issued July 18 at 5:30PM EDT by NWS Cleveland OH An Air Quality Advisory for ground level fine particles has been issued by the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency for Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage and Summit Counties. The advisory is from midnight tonight to midnight Sunday night. Air quality levels will be unhealthy for sensitive groups during this period. If you are in the sensitive groups category of children, the elderly and those with breathing difficulties, please monitor your outdoor activity and check air quality readings at airnow.gov. Special Weather Statement issued July 18 at 7:01PM EDT by NWS Cleveland OH At 701 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Kelleys Island to near Avon Lake. Movement was southeast at 45 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Lorain, Elyria, Sandusky, Western Vermilion, Vermilion, Kelleys Island, North Ridgeville, Avon Lake, Amherst, Grafton, Northern Milan, Avon, Sheffield Lake, Eaton, Oberlin, Sheffield, Lagrange, South Amherst, Pittsfield, and Marblehead. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for north central, northeastern and northwestern Ohio.

Lorain, Elyria, Vermilion, Western Vermilion, North Ridgeville, Amherst, Grafton, Eaton, Oberlin, Sheffield, Lagrange, South Amherst, and Eaton Estates.
